This Child Photographer Talks About Getting a Kid Ready for a Photography Session

Too often we are asked to do an afternoon portrait photography session with kids. I’m sorry, unless you are a rock star who keeps your kids up to 1am (I have photographed those kids and they are different) I will have to refuse. Why? Because photographing 2 snapshots of your kid in the afternoon is one thing, but asking for their good behavior and focus for longer than that is a disaster.

A Mother’s Day from Photographer Linnea Lenkus

I tried to be a photographer less on this trip. Although I did take several hundred images, which is low for me, I tried to force myself to put the camera down so that I could enjoy my family. Sometimes we mothers need to be reminded that life is happening all around us and to breathe it in. I wish that I had a professional photographer to follow me around so that I could not try to grab those moments myself, but BE IN those moments.
